Laboratory and Compliance Manager

Established in 1992, the team at PROS are based in the beautiful Marlborough region.
With over 30 years of service in the New Zealand wine industry, PROS has now evolved and diversified to provide a wide range of services and products to all facets of the market. The company has built a comprehensive network of customers across New Zealand, providing products, services and problem-solving advice to enhance their businesses.
They are now looking for an experienced Laboratory and Compliance Manager to join their collaborative team.
The job
Reporting to the owner, this is a pivotal position that blends technical expertise with leadership and strategic responsibilities. To ensure the role's success, it's important to:
Maintain Key Laboratory Objectives: Manage all laboratory operations and quality assurance ensuring continued ISO 17025 accreditation.
Drive Innovation: Champion research and method development efforts that align with organizational objectives and industry trends.
Emphasise Team Development: Support the cohesive team through training, mentorship, and clear communication to maintain a high-functioning unit.
Promote Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with the owner and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment on finances, growth initiatives, and strategic goals.
Engage with Industry: Maintain and continue to build strong relationships with industry partners to stay ahead of trends, identify opportunities, and enhance stakeholder engagement.
The ideal candidate
To be successful in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in science or oenology with sound knowledge of ISO 17025 systems, MPI regulatory requirements for wine industry, HACCP and other quality systems. At least 5 years of laboratory experience is essential, preferably in the wine industry. Proven experience in people management, finance and budgeting is also required.
As someone with a passion for Laboratory, both in management and on the bench, you will be a good leader of people, a strong communicator and a natural problem solver.
As a forward-thinking team player with strong communication skills, you will show initiative, adaptability, and form solid working relationships. You will be results driven and able to manage your own workload in a proactive and positive manner.
